If you’re exploring premium boat options on Long Island, you’ve likely narrowed your search down to two standout names: Cobalt and Formula.

If you're shopping for a premium boat on Long Island, chances are you've come across two big names: Cobalt and Formula. Both brands offer top-tier quality, sleek designs, and exceptional on-water experiences—but they’re not built the same. And as a certified Cobalt dealer, we at Strong’s Marine often hear one big question:

**“How does** [Cobalt](https://strongsmarine.com/cobalt-boats) **compare to Formula—and which is right for me?”**

This guide gives you an honest, side-by-side comparison to help you make the best decision based on your boating lifestyle, priorities, and where you’ll be cruising in the Northeast.

## Ride Comfort and Handling: Who Wins in the Chop?

Long Island boaters know the Sound and the bays can get choppy fast. That’s where [Cobalt](https://strongsmarine.com/cobalt-boats)shines.

[**Cobalt’s deep-V hull design**](https://strongsmarine.com/cobalt-boats) and signature “Extended Running Surface” allow the boat to stay on plane at lower speeds and cut through waves with exceptional smoothness. Combine that with Kevlar reinforcement and a carefully balanced weight distribution, and you’ll feel the difference in ride stability.

Formula boats also ride well—they're performance-oriented—but many owners report they feel “heavier” and require more speed to get up on plane, especially in mid-size models.

## Fit and Finish: Which Feels More Luxurious?

Step aboard a [Cobalt](https://strongsmarine.com/cobalt-boats)and you’ll notice ultra-plush seating, stainless steel finishes, seamless storage, and meticulous attention to detail. Cobalt handcrafts its interiors with **automotive-level precision**, and it shows in everything from the stitching to the sound insulation.

Formula is no slouch in quality—they’re well-built boats—but their interiors often lean more traditional, with fewer customization options and a firmer, sportier feel.

## Layout and Livability: Who Uses Space Smarter?

For boaters looking to entertain, [Cobalt’s](https://strongsmarine.com/cobalt-boats)cockpit layouts are some of the most thoughtfully designed in the industry. Many Cobalt models feature:

- Reversible sun pads
- Deep bow seating with armrests
- Expansive swim platforms with hydraulic options
- Patented swim step for easy water access (especially great for families)

Formula’s layouts prioritize performance and speed more than lounging or family comfort.

## Resale Value and Dealer Support

Here’s something many buyers overlook: [**Cobalt boats tend to hold their value incredibly well.**](https://strongsmarine.com/cobalt-boats) They’re consistently among the top performers in resale rankings.

[Strong’s Marine](https://strongsmarine.com) is proud to be one of the largest and most respected Cobalt dealers in the nation, offering dedicated service centers across Long Island. That means faster turnarounds, certified technicians, and a better ownership experience long-term.

Formula also retains value, but its smaller dealer footprint in the area can mean less convenience post-purchase.

## Which Brand Is Best for You?

If you love pushing the throttle and crave a sportier feel, Formula may be worth a look. But if you’re the type of boater who values smooth rides, luxurious comfort, family-friendly features, and long-term ownership experience?

***Cobalt was built for you.***

And with Strong’s Marine by your side, you’re not just buying a boat—you’re joining a boating family that puts your needs first.
